Arable Silage Information
- Drill at 50 Kilos per acre and undersow by broadcasting the herbage ley on the same day
- Yield from 10 to 15 big bales (600kg) per acre
- Will enable you to establish a first-class grass ley by early July
- Harvest after approximately 11-12 weeks - no later; there will be small, unfilled pods at the base and flowers at the top of the pea plant. Mow at 4" / 10cm
- Produces high protein, high sugar forage
- Suitable for Cows, Cattle and Sheep
Arable Silage Undersowing Tips
- Drill at 50kg per acre
- Do not broadcast arable silage
- Try not to double-drill on headlands
- Drill arable silage, and sow the undersown grass ley on the same day
- Harvest 11-12 weeks after drilling - it is important that you do not leave it longer
- After harvest, the peas will have provided nitrogen for the undersown grass ley
